Research and Planning for Sustainable Mobility
Continuously high traffic volumes, as well as the resulting infrastructure bottlenecks and environmental problems request a sustainable transport system, both in passenger and freight transport. This transport system has to be based on a high responsibility in the fulfillment of future mobility needs and on the sustainable usage of scarce ressources. Therefore, to provide climate-friendly, ecological and socially acceptable mobility and transport is one of the biggest challenges our societies worldwide are faced with today.
With the aim of creating integrated solutions to mobility and transport problems through interdisciplinary research, twelve scientists from the University of Stuttgart teamed up to create FOVUS - the Center for Transportation Research at the University of Stuttgart.
